The Housewife Life

It's now been a full month of me living up here in Ellsworth, Maine. And I'm just now beginning to settle into my new life and schedule as a stay-at-home Dad. It's been a little bit of an adjustment, to be honest. I've worked full-time pretty much since I graduated college back in 1991 - 25 years ago. So, my weekdays have always revolved around my 9-5 desk job.

Now, with the kids and house to tend to, my daily routine looks a whole lot different. Here's a peek at what a typical "day in the life" is for me these days...

6:30am - Wake and drink coffee.
6:30-7:30 - Get kids ready and drive them to school.
7:30-8:30 - Drink more coffee and write blog post.
8:30-10:30 - Gym time: spin class, elliptical & climber.
10:30-12:30 - Write and/or do freelance work.
12:30-1:00 - Eat lunch and take dog for walk.
1:00-3:00 - Chores: laundry, clean, groceries, etc.
3:00 - Meet kids off the bus. Make snack.
3:00-4:00 - Homework/Play time.
4:00-5:00 - Dance/Karate class for kids.
5:00-6:00 - Make and eat dinner.
6:00-7:00 - Bathe kids. Reading time for kids.
7:00-8:00 - TV time for kids. More freelance work.

8:00-8:30 - Bedtime routine for kids.
8:30-10:00 - TV time for parents.
10:00pm - Bed.

So, there you have it. Not terribly exciting but, from my perspective, very rewarding. It's a blessing, begin able to spend so much extra time with the kids each day. I hope they appreciate it... Someday.

I know I do... Everyday.
