Blue Hill Ramble

On a recent “exploring” day I headed 14 miles southwest of Ellsworth to a town called Blue Hill.

When first settled in 1762, Blue Hill's economy was centered on shipbuilding and trading by sea with granite quarries and farming providing local income. Today the town is known for its diverse culture, small town feel and proximity to beautiful Blue Hill Bay. It’s also known for the Blue Hill Fair, "a down to earth country fair" held over the Labor Day weekend every year. Blue Hill Mountain overlooks the town and Blue Hill Bay, and its pathways are well-used by residents and visitors alike as they gain an unmatched vista of Down East Maine, in all seasons.

They also have a well-known writers group that meets every Thursday morning at the Blue Hill Library. And, I plan on attending a few of their meetings to see if I can’t get this book of mine off the ground.
